TABU is short for Tagliabue. The family began dyeing wood in Cantù in 1927 and the company remains family run today, now in its second and third generations.
TABU dyes the wood through its thickness rather than only colouring the surface. Sand the veneer and the colour remains. The company describes the aim of the process with two words: homogeneity and repeatability, so the same colour can be specified again across later production.
TABU produces both dyed natural veneer and multilaminar veneer in Italy. The 555 Collection is the main colour range, alongside Radiche, Graffiti, 3D surfaces and other specialist wood treatments.
The company sells in more than 60 countries. Its veneers are used when a project needs the grain and variation of real wood in colours that are difficult or impossible to find naturally.
